World Press Photo and De Nieuwe Kerk are proud to present the 2026 edition of The Stories That Matter<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. Join award-winning photographers, industry leaders, critical thinkers, and the public as we explore the narratives shaping visual journalism and the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s program highlights trust and transparency in photojournalism. In a time of rapidly advancing technology, what does it mean to trust a photograph? And what responsibilities do photographers, editors, and institutions have to maintain that trust? Confirmed speakers includeTara Pixley<\/a> and Lewis Bush<\/a>. The day will be moderated by Giya Makondo-Wills<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners of the 2026 Contest, photographers coming from 25 countries across the globe, spanning from Egypt to Sweden, Brazil to Hong Kong, and Nepal to Mexico, will be there to speak about their work presented in the exhibition, and engage in open conversation with the audience. Photographers are available for interviews upon request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of our interactive sessions, we present \u2018In the Jury Room\u2019, giving information about the World Press Photo jury deliberations, exploring why openness and accountability in the process are essential to the contest’s integrity; \u2018Visual Thinking Conversations\u2019, diving deeper into the meanings contained inside photographs; as well as \u2018The Photography Book Club\u2019 with Coco Olakunle<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will also be a book signing where the winners of the 2026 World Press Photo Contest will sign copies of the Yearbook 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stories That Matter is part of the World Press Photo Days<\/a><\/em>, taking place between 28 – 30 May, which includes activities to support, inspire and connect the photojournalism and documentary photography community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
